1. Why did I receive a ticket while parked on the Square?

Two-hour free parking is available on the Downtown Square. Two-hour parking allows patrons to park for up to two consecutive hours within a four-hour time period. You must leave the Square on or before two hours have passed from the time you first arrived. You may not return to the Square until four hours have passed from the time you first parked. This ensures that these spaces are made available for customers visiting the area businesses and restaurants. You should park in one of the long-term parking areas if you plan to stay longer than two hours.

2. How long do I have to pay the parking ticket?

Payment is due within 14 days of the date of issue. Please be sure to include the ticket with the payment so that it will be applied properly. Failure to remit payment promptly will result in the issuance of a summons and increased fines.

3. My parking Ticket is due today. May I make a payment over the phone or online?

Payments cannot be made over the phone.  However, if you have your Ticket number or license plate number, you can make payments online at https://fayetteville.citationportal.com.

4. I have a Hang Tag and parked at a permit-eligible surface parking lot but still received a ticket. Why?

One reason would be that the Hang Tag was not displayed properly. The Hang Tags must be displayed from the rear view mirror of the vehicle so that the sticker is clearly visible from the front of the vehicle. If the Hang Tag is lying on the dashboard, it is not displayed properly.

5. I have a Hang Tag for a permit-eligible surface parking lot but forgot to put it on my rearview mirror. Can my ticket be forgiven?

8. I received a ticket that says Against the Flow. Is it a mistake?

Parking against the flow of traffic is prohibited by city Ordinance 72.06 Method of Parking (below) and the State of Arkansas.

72.06 Method of Parking Pursuant to A.C.A. ’27-51-1301, a vehicle parked on any street in the city shall be parked on the right-hand side of the street, headed in the direction of traffic with its right-hand wheels parallel to and within 18 inches of the curb, except where streets have been marked for angle parking, and except that, on one-way streets, vehicles may be parked on the left-hand side of the street, unless parking is prohibited on such side. In every case, a vehicle shall be parked entirely within any lines or markings on the street designating parking spaces.

Parking against the flow creates an unsafe traffic condition because it requires vehicles to cross a lane of oncoming traffic when exiting the parking space.
