City Clerk Notice

Dear All,

Please be advised that at last night’s regular meeting of the FHA, the Board called an executive session at the end of our business agenda. The outcome of that discussion was the termination of our Executive Director, effective immediately.

For your records, here is the official statement from the FHA Board:

“The Fayetteville Housing Authority Board of Commissioners embraces and acknowledges the opportunities and challenges before us to provide affordable housing in a time of great change for our region.

To that end, we would like to thank Ms. Deniece Smiley for her service and dedication, but we are heading in a new direction that requires new leadership.

The Commission is unified in our support for a new path forward for the FHA. We will be conducting a national search for a new executive leadership that promotes a progressive & proactive future for our residents & our community.

The FHA board is dedicated to doing everything in our power to make this a smooth transition of leadership, with the best interests of our residents and community in mind.”

The Fayetteville Housing Authority Board will convene on Monday, September 24th, 2018 @ 1:30 p.m. at the FHA office conference room, located at 1 N. School Ave.  The agenda for the meeting will be focused on working on our FY2018 budget, as well as formally appointing an interim director so that our residents and clients are not affected by the leadership transition.

Please don’t hesitate to call me if you have any questions, concerns, and/or directives. My number is: 479-582-1445.
