City Clerk Notice

City Council Members have been invited to attend the following:

In case you are not aware, the latest Arkansas legislature session approved having women-owned businesses to be certified.  Certified women-owned businesses will now be able to access state benefits associated with this certification like getting contracts, financing, etc.  Until now, women-owned businesses that are certified can access benefits at the federal level but not the state level.

As such, Arkansas’ economic development agency, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC) wants to hold 3 concurrent press conferences on:

Thursday, August 31
At 10:30 am
In front of the steps of the Fayetteville Town Center
15 W Mountain
Fayetteville, AR

To achieve 2 things:

  1. to create awareness amongst women business owners about this certification now made available to them and
  2. to announce the change of AEDC’s Small and Minority Business division to Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise division.

The 3 locations are Little Rock, Fayetteville, and Jonesboro.  Governor Asa Hutchinson will lead the one in Little Rock, and local leaders will lead the ones in Fayetteville and Jonesboro.

As a leader in Fayetteville, I invite you to attend the press conference to learn more.

Will you please let me know if you will be able to attend the press conference?

Thanks,

Chung Tan, CEcD
