Section of E. North Street Closed for Asphalt Milling and Overlay Work

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville Transportation Division will be milling and placing an asphalt overlay on E. North Street between N. College Avenue and N. Mission Boulevard from Monday, April 3 through Friday, April 7. This section of North Street will be closed to thru traffic during the work hours of 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Residents will be allowed access as needed.) Rain could delay or extend the estimated work time.

Drivers in the area should look for detour signs. Crews will work to minimize traffic delays; however, please allow extra travel time. Residents who live on roads north of North Street are advised to use E. Oakwood Street for access to homes. Southbound Mission Boulevard (Highway 45) traffic will be detoured south to Maple or Lafayette Streets. Eastbound drivers are encouraged to use Lafayette or Maple Streets to access Mission Boulevard.

Oil will be sprayed on the roadway prior to the placement of asphalt overlays. If necessary, you may drive on the oil before the asphalt is placed. Please drive slowly and with care. Driving fast will throw oil on your vehicle and endanger the crew. If oil is thrown on your vehicle, it can be removed with WD-40 spray and paper towels.

The Transportation Division follows a maintenance program for existing asphalts streets within city limits, resulting in fewer complete street rebuilds and lower costs overall. Additionally, the City recycles the asphalt – old layers that have been removed are milled, sold to asphalt plants, and/or reused for new paving projects. The 2017 repaving project list can be viewed on this webpage.

On the behalf of the City of Fayetteville, we would like to express our appreciation for your cooperation and understanding as we perform our work in this area. For additional information on the project, please contact the City of Fayetteville Transportation Division office at 479-575-8228. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
