Fayetteville’s City Clerk Accepting Applications to Serve on City Boards



FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Fayetteville’s Office of the City Clerk Treasurer is accepting applications for various boards. Fayetteville citizen boards, committees, and commissions consist of mostly volunteer citizens who are devoted to giving their time and expertise on issues relating to each board, committee, or commission. Applicants must be a resident living within Fayetteville city limits and be a Fayetteville registered voter. Vacancies are advertised and appointments are made quarterly. Citizen appointments are made by the Nominating Committee of the City Council and receive final approval by the City Council. The current vacancies are:

Advertising and Promotion Commission

One owner/manager of a hotel, motel, or restaurant tourism industry – term ending 03/31/21

One tourism industry unexpired – term ending 03/31/20

One public at large – term ending 03/31/21


Animal Services Advisory Board

One unexpired citizen at large – term ending 06/30/18

One unexpired licensed veterinarian – term expiring 06/30/19


Audit Committee

One unexpired member – term ending 12/31/19


Civil Service Commission

Two commissioners – terms ending 03/31/23

Each commissioner must be a resident of the City for at least three years

immediately preceding their appointment.  A.C.A. Section 14-51-202.


Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals

Two members – terms ending 03/31/22


Fayetteville Public Library Board of Trustees

Two board members – terms ending 04/01/22


Historic District Commission

One unexpired member – term ending 06/30/18


Planning Commission

Three commissioners – terms ending 03/31/20


Information about the boards and an application can be found here. The application deadline is February 24, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. All applicants must submit a new application for each board, commission or committee. Applications may be emailed to cityclerk@fayetteville-ar.gov or mailed to the City Clerk office at 113 W. Mountain Street, Fayetteville, AR 72701.
