Opportunities to Spread Cheer This Holiday Season from City’s Community Resources Division

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The City of Fayetteville’s Community Resources Division would like to announce multiple opportunities to spread some cheer over the upcoming holiday season!

The 10th Annual Senior Giving Tree event will be held at Fayetteville’s Senior Activity and Wellness Center on December 7 and the Community Resources Division is currently seeking volunteers to help serve lunch to the seniors during the event. Those interested in participating are encouraged to call the division at 479-575-8260.

The division is also currently accepting gifts for homebound seniors who are participants in the Meals on Wheels program. Gift ideas include: robes, nightgowns, house slippers, blankets, crossword puzzles, emergency radios, batteries, night lights, first aid kits, and gift cards. Unwrapped gifts will be accepted at the Community Resources office through December 5.

Ranger’s Pantry Pet Food Bank will soon begin its “Purrfect Howliday” card campaign to support families and pets in need within Fayetteville. Beginning November 14, unique, handmade holiday greeting cards will be available for a minimum donation of $5, and will be available at select retailers in Fayetteville, including the Mustache Goods & Wears, Jammin’ Java, and Savoy Tea Company, as well as directly through the Community Resources Division located at 125 W. Mountain St.

The division’s Hearth housing program would also like to announce its first annual “Hearth for the Holidays” campaign. By donating home goods, citizens can help “stock the shelves” to ensure that those making the transition from homelessness to housing are provided with the right necessities to start a home. Suggested donations include: linens, dinnerware, kitchen items, pillows, and blankets. For more information, please call 479-575-8260.
