E. Rock Street off College Avenue Closed Weekdays for Improvements

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville Transportation Division will be closing a portion of E. Rock Street from College Avenue (Highway 71B) to Mill Avenue from 6 a.m. 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Construction begins on Monday, June 13 and is expected to be complete by August 31, 2016. However, weather could delay the completion date.

City crews will be adding new curb and gutter, new sidewalks, and making drainage improvements to both sides of E. Rock Street. When construction is complete, crews will overlay the street with asphalt. Curb and gutter combined with drainage improvements will alleviate flooding on the street during major rainfall events and will minimize ice collection during freeze events. The new sidewalk on the north side of E. Rock Street will provide safe access to the Yvonne Richardson Community Center and a connection for neighborhood residents to College Avenue and the downtown square.

The City encourages drivers to review and print this map for alternative route suggestions. Detours will be posted during the construction project.

On behalf of the City of Fayetteville, we would like to express our appreciation for your cooperation and understanding as we perform our work in this area. For additional information on the project, please contact the Transportation Division office at 479-575-8228. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
