Fayetteville’s First Women-Only Duathlon Takes Place on Sunday
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The paved trails at Lake Fayetteville will be filled with racers this Sunday morning, May 22 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. as the City of Fayetteville’s Parks and Recreation Department hosts its first duathlon for women. The City urges trail users to stay off the Lake Fayetteville paved trail during race times. The trail will be used as the bicycle course portion of the race.
Ladies DU Fayetteville, a duathlon for women, is a 2-mile run / 11-mile bicycle ride / 2-mile run format open to women of all ages and is designed to create an empowering experience before, during, and after the race. Participants have the option of competing individually or as a two-person relay team where one woman runs and another woman bikes.
Details for Ladies DU Fayetteville can be viewed at the online registration webpage. Registration closes at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18. Fees are $55 for individual entries and $95 for relay entries. The registration fee includes a supported course, race timing, downloadable event photos, and a cycling jersey designed by women’s cycling apparel company, Moxie Cycling Co.
As part of the Fayetteville Race Series, Ladies DU Fayetteville is unique in that it is open to women only. The spirit of the duathlon will be supportive and rewarding. Post-race festivities include massage chairs, raffle prize drawings, and healthy snacks.
The Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Department is excited to host this ladies-only duathlon with hopes of growing it into a popular, annual tradition. Sponsors of Ladies DU Fayetteville include: Moxie Cycling Co., Academy Sports, Signature Bank of Arkansas, Fayetteville Advertising and Promotion Commission, Ocean Spray, Hiland Dairy, A5 Images, and Blue Cliff College.
Numerous volunteer opportunities are available and can be viewed on the volunteer registration website, GivePulse. You may also contact Parks and Recreation to volunteer. T-shirts will be provided to those who help.
