City of Fayetteville Announces 2016 Historic Preservation Awards

The City of Fayetteville’s Historic District Commission will present its annual Historic Preservation Awards on May 12 to honor projects, organizations, and individuals that have displayed outstanding commitment, practice, and leadership in historic preservation.

The following awards will be presented:

Best Practices Award in recognition of practice of preservation technique and quality of work in the spirit of the Secretary of Interior’s standards for the treatment of historic properties.
• Allison Architects for the Jim and Joyce Faulkner Performing Arts Center project
• University of Arkansas for the Jim and Joyce Faulkner Performing Arts Center project

The Mayor’s Award for Outstanding Service in Historic Preservation in recognition of exemplary service in historic preservation and advancing the interest of preserving the cultural heritage and history of Fayetteville.
• Anthony J. Wappel for his book "On the Boulevard: An Illustrated History of Fayetteville’s U.S. Highway 71B"
