Come out and join the City of Fayetteville on Earth Day for “Wild About Earth Day”—an afternoon of cleaning up litter along the Fayetteville portion of the Razorback Greenway and planting wildflowers.

Wild About Earth Day is a volunteer event that will be held on Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, 2015, from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. To volunteer for this event, please contact Kristina Jones at kjones@fayetteville-ar.gov or (479) 444-3467. The event will start at the Marion Orton Recycling Center (735 W. North St.). All participants will receive a bag of wildflower seed to take home.

Volunteers will be picking up litter along sections of the trail that are in need of attention. After the litter has been collected, City staff will be planting sections of the trail with wildflowers. Supplies (trash bags and pinchers) will be provided by the City of Fayetteville Recycling and Trash Division. After the litter has been picked up and bagged each section will have a drop off point to place the full trash bags. The Recycling and Trash Division will collect the bags from the drop off points and bring it all back to the collection center.

Supplies can be picked up either at the City of Fayetteville Parks and Recreation office (located at 1455 S. Happy Hollow Road) or on the day of the event at 12:30 p.m. at the Marion Orton Recycling Center on North Street. The event starts at the Marion Orton Recycling Center (735 W. North St.). Please park across the street in the parking lot behind the Laundromat. From the Marion Orton Recycling Center, groups of volunteers will be sent to a section of trail with equipment to pick up litter.

In the spirit of Earth Day, we strongly encourage volunteers to walk or bike to this event. The meeting point of the Marion Orton Recycling Center is conveniently located along the Fayetteville Trail System. Bike parking will be available.
