City to Use Specialized Equipment for Data Collection of Traffic Volumes

The City of Fayetteville will be conducting traffic counts Monday, May 2 through Thursday, May 5 to gather data for the Sain Street Extension Project. The extension project will connect Joyce Boulevard with Fulbright Expressway; construction is expected to take place in 2018.

Traffic counting equipment will be temporarily installed on street light and sign poles at various locations along and adjacent to N. College Avenue (Highway 71B) between Longview Street and Joyce Boulevard. The City is using specialized video cameras for data collection. The equipment records vehicle movement and does not have the capability to record personal information such as license plates or determine the identity of drivers or passengers.

The traffic counts are a required part of Federal Highway Administration planning process, which is being conducted by the City of Fayetteville in partnership with Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department

Please contact the Engineering Division Office for more information by calling 479-575-8206.
