Registration Open for Fayetteville’s First Women-Only Duathlon
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Parks and Recreation will be offering its first Ladies DU Fayetteville race, a duathlon for women, on Sunday, May 22, 2016. The race is open to women of all ages and is designed to create an empowering experience before, during, and after the race.
The duathlon is a two-mile run/11-mile bicycle ride/two-mile run format and will take place at Lake Fayetteville on the paved trails around and near the lake. Participants have the option of competing individually or as a two-person relay team where one woman completes the running portions of the race and another women completes the bicycling portion.
As part of the Fayetteville Race Series, Ladies DU Fayetteville is unique in that it is open to women only. The spirit of the duathlon will be supportive and rewarding. Post-race festivities include massage chairs, female fitness and retail vendors, raffle prize drawings, and healthy snacks.
Online registration is currently available. Fees are $45 for individual entries and $75 for relay entries. The registration fee includes a supported course, race timing, downloadable event photos, and a custom cycling designed by women’s cycling apparel company, Moxie Cycling Co. Please register prior to March 11 in order to guarantee the proper jersey size.
Numerous volunteer opportunities are available and can be viewed on the volunteer registration website, GivePulse. Volunteers will receive a Fayetteville Race Series t-shirt.
The Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Division is excited to host this ladies only duathlon with hopes to grow it into popular, annual tradition. Sponsors of Ladies DU Fayetteville include: Fayetteville Advertising and Promotion Commission Moxie Cycling Co, Academy Sports, Signature Bank of Arkansas, Fleet Feet Sports, Ocean Spray, A5 Images, and Blue Cliff College.
