Reconstruction of Railroad Crossings to Close S. Hill Avenue and S. University Ave.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas Missouri Railroad is working with the City of Fayetteville to reconstruct road crossings at railroad tracks for S. Hill Avenue and S. University Avenue.

Reconstruction will require portions of each roadway to be closed to thru traffic; detour routes will be marked. • S. Hill Avenue from W. Stone Street to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 6 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• S. University Avenue from W. Putman Street to S. Gregg Avenue will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 7 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.Please use extreme caution when in the work area, watch for personnel and equipment, and follow all advisory and regulatory signage.

These crossings are in need of repair, as the old timbers have deteriorated. Arkansas Missouri Railroad will remove the old timbers from the driving surface area and replace with new concrete panels. The City of Fayetteville Transportation Division will be assisting with the improvements by replacing asphalt leading up to the crossings. John Cummings with Arkansas Missouri Railroad can be contacted by email at johnc@amrailroad.com or by phone at 479-871-3471 for additional information.
