Free Municipal Parking Notice for the Upcoming Holidays
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Mayor Jordan has declared free parking on the following days during the holiday season:
• Christmas Eve Day – Thursday, Dec. 24
• Christmas Day – Friday, Dec. 25
• New Year’s Day – Friday, Jan. 1, 2016
In the Downtown Square Parking District, municipal parking restrictions will not be enforced on Thursday, Dec. 24; Friday, Dec. 25; and Friday Jan. 1 from 8 a.m. through 6 p.m.; however, drivers should not park in spaces reserved for Lights of the Ozarks or First Night vendors on the Square.
In the Dickson Street Entertainment Parking District, municipal parking restrictions will not be enforced from 2 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24 through 2 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 26 and from 2 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 1 through 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2; however, drivers should not park in marked residential parking spaces.
The City’s new Spring Street Parking Deck opened in October, adding 235 parking spaces to the Dickson Street Entertainment District. The deck is located on Spring Street, between West Avenue and School Avenue, behind the Walton Arts Center. Vehicle entrances are located on School Avenue and on Spring Street. Free covered bicycle parking is available with 12 racks accommodating 24 bicycles.
Municipal parking in the Dickson Street Entertainment Parking District, including the new Spring Street Parking Deck, is free before 2 p.m. daily and uses a pay-by-space system from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. Payment can be made at any of the kiosks located throughout the area, as well as the six kiosks located in the deck, or by using the convenient pay-by-phone system. Special rates are offered in the Spring Street Parking Deck and the West Avenue Parking Lot for most Walton Arts Center events.
