City Releases Educational Publication on Invasive Plant Species
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville has just released its “Invasive Plant Species in Fayetteville Arkansas” digital publication.
Eighteen invasive plant species were identified by a group of stakeholders, including nursery owners, horticulturists, landscape architects, biologists, community members, and City staff. The stakeholder group recognized the need to provide educational materials to the general public about how to identify, remove, and replace invasive plants with native or non-invasive equivalents. The “Invasive Plant Species in Fayetteville Arkansas” publication can be viewed on the City of Fayetteville’s Parks and Recreation Department website here.
Fayetteville City Council adopted Ordinance 5820 on Nov. 3, 2015, amending the Unified Development Code Chapter 177: Landscape Regulations to adopt regulations prohibiting the installation of eighteen invasive plant species in developments that require landscape plan review and approval by the Urban Forestry Division.
