Traffic Control Installations on Van Asche Drive
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville Transportation Division is installing two stop signs at the intersection of Van Asche Drive and Steele Boulevard on Monday Dec. 21. This will create a four-way stop at the intersection. The increased traffic volume in this area has created the need for this change for increased safety. The City Engineering Division is evaluating whether any further improvements are necessary.
City staff used traffic count data in an application to the Arkansas Highway and Traffic Division (AHTD) for a permit to install a traffic signal at the three-way intersection of Van Asche Street, Garland Avenue, and state highway 112. AHTD has approved the permit and the City has ordered signal poles to expedite the installation process. The City will open bids for the traffic signal installation contract on Jan. 12, 2016. Signal poles are expected to be delivered in April 2016 and the installation will begin immediately upon receipt.
The Van Asche Drive Extension Project was finished in September 2015 and completes the east/west connection on northern part of the Mayor’s Box, a system of roadways around the perimeter of the City, connected with miles of trails and sidewalks.
On the behalf of the City of Fayetteville, we would like to express our appreciation for your cooperation and understanding as we perform our work in this area. For additional information on the project, please contact the Transportation Division office at 479-575-8228. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
