Fayetteville offers online payment option for HMR, Supplemental Beverage tax collection
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Starting Friday, Dec. 1, Fayetteville businesses that pay Hotel/Motel/Restaurant (HMR) Tax and Supplemental Beverage (SB) taxes will be able to report sales and pay the taxes online.
Beginning with the November 2023 HMR and SB taxes, which are due in December, businesses will be able to report and make payments on the City of Fayetteville’s Citizen Self-Service (CSS) portal: https://fayetteville-ar.gov/mycitybusiness.
The City’s CSS portal also is utilized for the renewal of business licenses and alcoholic beverage licenses. Business owners are encouraged to create a profile on the CSS portal, if they do not already have one.
In addition to sales tax collected by the State, Washington County and City, the City has a 2% HMR tax on establishments engaged in the business of renting, leasing or otherwise furnishing hotel or motel accommodations or selling prepared food for consumption, on or off premises.
The City’s 5% SB tax is on gross receipts from the sale of alcoholic beverages. (Wine, beer, light wine and malt liquors containing less than 5% alcohol by weight are exempt, as they fall under the HMR tax.)
