City Asks Residents and Businesses to Temporarily Conserve Water Due to Major Water Leak
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville is asking residents and businesses to temporarily conserve water while a water transmission line is repaired. The City has already gone into conservation mode and communicated with major customers and is now asking residents to join our efforts. Please restrict water usage to drinking, cooking, and personal hygiene. Automatic irrigation and sprinkler systems should be temporarily shut off. Please avoid any unnecessary water usage (such as washing vehicles, pressure washing, etc.) until repairs are completed. The line is expected to be repaired and back in service by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15th.
Two water transmission lines, a 36-inch line and a 42-inch line, provide the City with water from the Beaver Water District. During routine maintenance of the 42-inch line, crews discovered a major leak and shut off water transmission lines after filling storage tanks. Repair is underway on a large section of pipe; once the repair is complete and water supply is turned on, the Arkansas Department of Health will test the flowing water and approve distribution to the public.
