Section of Zion Road from Park Lane Apartments to Old Missouri Road to be Closed 24/7 as Improvements Construction Enters Phase 2
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.—Ongoing improvement construction to Zion Road between Vantage Drive and N. Crossover Road has necessitated the closure of Zion Road to through traffic in phases. Beginning Nov. 1, 2021, construction will enter the second phase, which will require that Zion Road be closed 24/7 between the east side of the entry to Park Lake Apartments and Old Missouri Road. This phase of construction is expected to continue through the end of the year.
This closure will allow the contractor to work on roadway widening and realignment and to install storm drain and sanitary sewer for this portion of the project. As the storm drain being constructed on the south side of the new roadway is within the existing roadway, the work will cause the street to be too narrow to allow vehicles to travel through. However, property owners and residents between Vantage Drive and Park Lake Apartments will have full access from the west. Access to the Cornerstone Animal Hospital and for construction vehicles to the Sagely Place Subdivision will be maintained from the east.
Detour routes around construction will be marked as indicated in the attached map. Drivers are asked to be observant and use extra care when driving in this area.
Two additional phases of construction on Zion Road are planned for the future, as detailed below. The construction is expected to be completed in March, 2022.
Phase 3: Intersection of Zion Road and Old Missouri Road
After construction between Park Lake Apartments and Old Missouri is complete, the intersection of Zion and Old Missouri will need to be closed to allow for the construction of the mini-roundabout, as well as storm drain and sanitary sewer installation.
Phase 4: Old Missouri Road to N. Crossover Road
Subsequent, phased closures will be necessary from Old Missouri to N. Crossover to allow for the completion of the sanitary sewer installation within the middle of the existing roadway. Residents on the side streets off Zion will retain access to their properties for the duration of these various closures, and access to businesses will be maintained. Further detail about specific closures and detours will be provided closer to when they will occur.
