Pick Up Where You Play: Fayetteville Fall Lake Cleanups

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — It’s time to dust off the muck boots and hip waders – fall lake cleanup season is here, and the City of Fayetteville invites you to join in making a difference outdoors!

Every year the City partners with local businesses and stewardship organizations to clean up our lakes and educate the public about the impact litter and pollutants have on local waterways, as well as the importance of their removal and prevention.

Three Saturday lake cleanups are scheduled this fall, starting with Lake Sequoyah on Oct. 9 and Lake Fayetteville on Oct. 30, followed by Lake Wilson on Nov. 6. These first two cleanups are being held in conjunction with a region-wide cleanup effort, “Pick Up Where You Play.”

Participants 18 and older who volunteer for any of the regional Pick Up Where You Play events will be entered for a chance to win a guided striper fishing expedition on Beaver Lake.

Lake Sequoyah Cleanup, Oct. 9, 9:30 a.m. - noon

Cleanup focused on roads and trails; shoreline volunteers are most needed. A boat will ferry volunteers with rain/muck boots to muddy areas where litter is hard to reach and most prevalent.
