Annual Tree Giveaway at the Celebration of Trees
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.—Beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, the City of Fayetteville’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Urban Forestry Advisory Board will be giving out FREE trees and shrubs to Fayetteville residents as part of the City’s annual Celebration of Trees. The giveaway will be held in the Spring Street Parking Garage in a drive-through manner to maintain proper social distancing.
This event is the City’s 23rd annual recognition of Arbor Day and helps grow our urban forests. Over the past 22 years, the City has given away over 15,000 trees and shrubs to Fayetteville residents.
To receive their trees, residents are asked to enter the parking deck from Spring Street and exit on S. School. Participants should wear face coverings while going through the parking garage and remain in their vehicles. Please be prepared to show proof of residency in Fayetteville, such as a utility bill, to receive your free trees or shrubs. Each resident may receive two plants. We encourage citizens to have their tree/shrub species selected ahead of time. Staff and volunteers will load the plants into the vehicles. The tree giveaway will continue until supplies are gone.
The Celebration of Trees is a one-day event, but growing a tree is a sustained endeavor that will positively impact Fayetteville's urban forest for many years. Please consider the location and future growth pattern of the trees when making your selection. Full information about each available species is available on the City’s website at www.fayetteville-ar.gov/trees.
