Fayetteville Fire Department to Hold Traditional Christening for New Fire Truck
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Fayetteville Fire Department invites the public to the christening of the City’s newest firefighting apparatus, Ladder 3 on Thursday, July 16 at 4:30 p.m.
This new fire truck is called a "Quint" which means the Fire Department will have five functions available on this single apparatus: a fire pump, a water tank, a full complement of fire hose, ground ladders, and a 75 foot aerial ladder. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards spell out the necessary equipment required and the performance specifications for a certified fire apparatus.
The Fire Department’s Apparatus Committee developed the specifications for the new specialized fire truck. Committee members Larry Balding, Levi Crandell, Andrew Horton, Eddie King, Ryan Lewis, Winston McGowan, Kevin Murray, James Quinton, Chris Reibert, Willie Watts, and Shane Wood spent endless hours in meetings discussing the various options available and “built” the truck from the ground up, on paper. This process and their tireless attention to detail has assured the City of getting the necessary required equipment, at the lowest cost possible.
Please join Mayor Lioneld Jordan and the Fayetteville Firefighters as we uncouple the hose, ring the bell, and push the new fire truck backward into the Fire House, just like we used to do the new horses. The event will take place at Fire Station #3 located at 1050 S. Happy Hollow Road on Thursday, July 16 at 4:30 p.m.
