City of Fayetteville to Hold 14th Annual “CDBG in the Park” Community Picnic

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Come celebrate with us! The 14th annual “CDBG in the Park” community picnic will be held on Friday, July 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Walker Park pavilion in south Fayetteville. This yearly event is open to the public, and as always, Community Resources staff will be serving up hot dogs, cool drinks, and some fun activities. Hot dogs will be provided courtesy of Tyson Foods.

CDBG in the Park is an opportunity for the City of Fayetteville’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program to celebrate its investment in the community while providing information to Fayetteville residents about programs the City has to offer. The event will also feature several local organizations that will provide information about the services they offer to those within our community. Members of the recently adopted Community Development and Assistance Programs Advisory Board (CDAP) will also be on-site volunteering their time to assist with the festivities. This event is the perfect opportunity to participate in a day of free, family-friendly activities. Leashed & well-behaved pets are welcome.

The Community Development Block Grant program is funded by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). CDBG is the federal government’s primary program for promoting community revitalization throughout the country, providing annual grants on a formula basis to more than 1,000 metropolitan cities, including Fayetteville. CDBG funds are used for a wide range of community development activities directed toward neighborhood revitalization, economic development and improved community facilities and services.

For more information about the event or any of the available CDBG programs, please call the Community Resources Division at (479) 575-8260, or visit the Community Development section of the City’s website at fayetteville-ar.gov/cdbg.
