Fayetteville ranks 6th in U.S. for Bicycle Friendly Business Awards
City of Fayetteville awarded Silver designation by League of American Bicyclists

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (June 15, 2021) — The League of American Bicyclists has honored 30 businesses in Fayetteville with a Bicycle Friendly Businesses (BFB) Award, putting Fayetteville at No. 6 nationally for total BFBs.

As part of the league’s Spring 2021 list, the City of Fayetteville a received a Silver designation, moving up from its previous level of Bronze. The city’s Sustainability Department offices were awarded a Platinum designation – the highest level of recognition.

The BFB awards recognize an organization’s contributions in shifting up and accelerating the movement to build a Bicycle Friendly America for everyone.

“As one of the largest employers in our community, it is extremely important that the City of Fayetteville encourages our employees to use sustainable healthy transportation, such as bicycling,” said Dane Eifling, mobility coordinator for the City of Fayetteville’s Engineering Division. “More people bicycling to work means fewer cars on the roads and a healthier work force to serve our city.”

The City of Fayetteville’s Silver designation lasts four years. It joins 1,425 total BFBs nationwide, including everything from government agencies, Fortune 500 companies, bike shops and other employers, all united in a commitment to transform American workplaces to be more welcoming to both customers and employees who bike.

Among the other businesses in Fayetteville recognized were the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce and Fayetteville Public Library (both Silver).
