Gulley Park Township Parking Lot Improvements to Reopen

FAYETTEVILLE- Ark.— Improvements to the Gulley Park parking area at Township Street are nearly complete and the parking area will be opened for use this weekend.  The parking lot has been doubled in size to accommodate 68 LED-lighted parking spaces. The lot includes a wet garden or “rain garden” area that will be planted by park horticulturists over the next two months. The wet garden helps slow and filter stormwater before it enters Niokaska Creek. These parking lot improvements were primarily funded through the 2019 parks bond program.

The temporary grass parking area off Old Wire Road will be closed.  Park patrons are encouraged to continue to access the park on foot or bicycle via the recently completed Niokaska Trail and Old Wire Road Cycle Track.

Other projects starting soon at the park are renovations to the existing restrooms. Port-a-potties will be available during the restroom renovations. Future improvements include renovations and additions to the Gulley Park playground area, including addition of an interactive fountain. These improvements are part of the Gulley Park Master Plan, which was updated in 2018.
