Fayetteville’s Women-Only Duathlon to offer modified in-person race and virtual race in June

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Parks and Recreation will host the fifth annual Ladies DU Fayetteville race, a duathlon for women, on Saturday, June 12, 2021. The race is open to women of all ages and is the only duathlon in the state currently dedicated to female athletes. This year’s in-person race will have some modifications to ensure safety for participants and staff. A virtual race will also be offered to create additional, alternative accessibility to the duathlon.

Ladies Du uses a 2-mile run / 11-mile bicycle ride / 2-mile run format and will take place at Lake Fayetteville on the paved trails around and near the lake. Participants have the option of competing individually or as a two-person relay team where one woman runs and another woman bikes. Virtual race participants may choose their own course, race anytime between June 12-27, and submit their times to verify completion. A six-week small-group training program will also be offered. The training program meets once a week and includes entry into the race or virtual race.

Online registration opens February 24. Fees are $50 for individual entries, $90 for relay entries, and $95 for the training program. All registrations include a technical sleeveless top and a finisher medal. Event photo downloads are provided post-event at no cost.

Ladies DU Fayetteville has a tradition of a supportive and rewarding race experience. Fayetteville Parks and Recreation is excited to host the duathlon in 2021 after the absence of the race in 2020.
