City Breaks Ground on Public Safety Campus
FAYETTEVILLE, ARK – The City of Fayetteville invites the public to attend a groundbreaking ceremony for the City’s new public safety campus on Thursday, Feb.11 at 11 a.m. The event will take place at the project site just off the northeast corner of W. Deane Street and N. Porter Road. COVID-19 health and safety precautions will be in place. Limited parking is available to the north and east of the University of Arkansas Veterinary Diagnostic Lab, along N. Dvorachek Avenue and W. Heck Street. Construction personnel will be present to help attendees with parking.
Located near the center of Fayetteville, the public safety campus will house both a new fire station and a new police headquarters building. Both projects were approved by Fayetteville residents as part of the 2019 bond special election, receiving a 70% voter approval rate.

I want to thank them for showing their support by passing these bond projects, and I want to thank the many, many other people who have worked tirelessly to move these projects forward.”
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City is taking a scaled-back approach to this groundbreaking ceremony. Face coverings and social distancing will be required, and masks will be available free of charge for any attendee who does not have one. A limited number of speakers and officiants will participate in the ceremony, which is anticipated to last no more than 30 minutes. This event will take place outdoors on uneven ground, so attendees are advised to dress accordingly and wear sturdy shoes.
