Consumer Fireworks Safety Information and Notification of Professional Fireworks Displays

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — This is the fifth year in which fireworks can be sold within the city limits of Fayetteville for the Fourth of July holiday. The public may lawfully use consumer fireworks within Fayetteville, with some exceptions.

Fireworks can only be discharged during the following days and times upon private property with the consent of the property owner:

• July 1, July 2, July 3 – from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
• July 4 – from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Fireworks cannot be discharged at any other date or time. If any person younger than 16 years old is present, an adult (at least 21 years of age) must supervise the discharge of all fireworks. Skyrockets or aerial fireworks attached to a stick (bottle rockets) cannot be discharged within the city limits of Fayetteville.

Please be advised that the use of fireworks comes with the need for safety precautions. Safety depends on using them legally and responsibility. Therefore, taking extra precautions with consumer fireworks can prevent injury and property damage. Celebrations can become tragic when someone is injured by consumer fireworks. The Fayetteville Fire Marshal’s Office wants everyone to have a safe holiday; therefore, we ask that you please consider the following recommendations:

• Proceed with caution!
• Provide an open area with a minimum of 50 feet of clearance from buildings, spectators, vehicles, and no overhanging foliage.
• Discharge fireworks from a flat surface.
• Have a working fire extinguisher and water hose on standby.
• Don’t use fireworks if the item has been damaged or has been wet.
• Read the label and instructions of each fireworks product.
• Only use fireworks as intended; don't try to alter them or combine them.
• Do not wear loose clothing or open-toe shoes.
• Alcohol and fireworks do not mix – just like having a designated driver, have a designated igniter.
• If any person under 16 years of age is present while fireworks are discharged, an adult at least 21 years of age must supervise.

Two professional fireworks displays have been approved by the Fayetteville Fire Marshal’s Office and the Arkansas State Police; noise variances for the two displays have been approved by the City of Fayetteville. The approved dates, times, and locations are listed below:

DATE TIME LOCATION
Friday, July 3 9:25 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. (estimated) Northwest Arkansas Mall
Friday, July 4 9:25 p.m. – 9:55 p.m. Fayetteville Country Club
