City Development Services Department Announces New Planning, Permitting and Licensing Citizen Self-Service Portal

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.—On July 13, the City of Fayetteville implemented a new system called EnerGov™ to manage processes for Planning, Engineering, Code Compliance, HMR Tax, Supplemental Beverage Tax, Building Safety, Business Licensing, and Alcoholic Beverage Licensing. Starting Tuesday, September 8, the City will launch a new EnerGov Citizen Self-Service portal that will allow customers to submit development applications and documentation, renew business licenses, pay fees, check the status of applications, view inspections, and complete a host of additional Development Services related business processes with the City.

To begin using the new system, customers will visit and create a login profile to register. The EnerGov Citizen Self-Service portal will guide users step by step through the application process online, allow them to submit necessary documentation and pay fees associated with their submittal, and manage multiple applications in one online destination. The system will automatically route materials to the proper City departments for review and allow the applicant to track the progress of their submittal.

Along with the ability to apply and manage submittals, the ability to make online payments eliminates the need to mail in or deliver checks or other documentation in person. The EnerGov Citizen Self-Service portal allows both eCheck and credit card payments for your convenience, but credit card payments are subject to a 2.95% Transaction Service Fee ($2.00 minimum fee). This fee was approved by City Council on May 19, 2020.

The EnerGov software implementation is another project in the Mayor’s digital infrastructure initiative that strives to enhance City operations, increase efficiency, and improve public transparency through the use of technology. Additionally, this initiative reduces the need for in-person interaction between City staff and the Public as we continue to combat the spread of Covid-19.
