Registration Now Open for Splash & Dash Aquathlon at Wilson Park and Pool

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Department kicks off its inaugural Fayetteville Race Series at Wilson Park and Pool on Friday August 15 at 6:00 p.m. with Splash & Dash – a swimming and running competition for youth ages 7-15. The combination of swim/run is known as an aquathlon and is a great way to introduce young individuals to the concept of multi-sport racing. Aquathlons often serve as a stepping stone to more common multi-sport events such as duathlons and triathlons.

Participants need to register in advance and will be assigned to a start wave based on age. The child’s age on the day of the race will determine which age group he or she will compete in. The swim/run distance will vary for each age group as follows:

• Age 7-8: Swim 80 yards, Run ½ mile
• Age 9-10: Swim 120 yards, Run ½ mile
• Age 11-12: Swim 160 yards, Run 1 mile
• Age 13-15: Swim 200 yards, Run 1 mile

Registered competitors will need to check in and set up transition items in the transition area between 4:30-5:45 p.m. The first starting wave of Splash & Dash will begin at 6:00 p.m. The registration fee is $20 (before July 24) or $30 (after July 24) and includes an event tech t-shirt, access to event photos, and finisher certificates. Awards will be given to the overall finisher of each gender and to the top finisher of each age group. Award presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. Cheering and spectating is highly encouraged!

Registration can be completed online (additional $3 fee) or in person at the Fayetteville Parks and Recreation office located at 1455 S. Happy Hollow Road in Fayetteville.
