Section of E. Joyce Boulevard Closed for Asphalt Work

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.— The City of Fayetteville Transportation Division will be milling and placing an asphalt overlay on a section of E Joyce Boulevard between E. Crossover Road/Highway 265 and Old Wire Road. This work requires all lanes on that section of Joyce Boulevard to be closed to thru traffic from Tuesday, June 2 through Friday, June 5 during the work hours of 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residents will be allowed access as needed. Rain could delay or extend the estimated work time.

Detours will be marked to help with direction. The crew will work to minimize traffic delays; however, please allow extra travel time or consider an alternate route.

Oil will be sprayed on the roadway prior to the placement of asphalt overlays. If necessary, you may drive on the oil before the asphalt is placed. Please drive slowly and carefully. Driving fast will throw oil on your vehicle and endanger the crew. If oil is thrown on your vehicle, it can be removed with WD-40 spray and paper towels.

Small piles of debris/asphalt left at the edge of the roadway will be removed at the end of the project. (If not removed within two days, please call the office.)

The Transportation Division follows a maintenance program for existing asphalts streets within city limits, resulting in fewer complete street rebuilds and lower costs overall. Additionally, the City recycles the asphalt – old layers that have been removed are milled, sold to asphalt plants, and/or reused for new paving projects.

On behalf of the City of Fayetteville, we would like to express our appreciation for your cooperation and understanding as we perform our work in this area. For additional information on the project, please contact the City of Fayetteville Transportation Division office at 479-575-8228. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
