City of Fayetteville Mayor Jordan Calls Press Conference
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Following Governor Asa Hutchinson’s daily press briefing at 1:30 p.m., Mayor Lioneld Jordan will address the media in room 219 of City Hall at 113 W. Mountain Street. This is expected to begin at approximately 2 p.m
Mayor Jordan will give an update on COVID-19 and discuss current measures being taken to help prevent community spread. City of Fayetteville Fire Chief Brad Hardin, Police Chief Mike Reynolds and Director of Economic Development Devin Howland will join Mayor Jordan at the press conference to answer questions and provide additional information.
Additionally, Mayor Jordan will close City Hall to the public beginning March 19, 2020. Several city divisional offices announced closures to the public earlier this week, and many city staff have been directed to work remotely. These decisions were made to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission and to protect the city’s core services. A list of city offices closed to the public is available here. Office closures will be re-evaluated based on new information about the spread of COVID-19.
While City Hall is closed, in-person payments for bills and invoices will not be available. The payments office will continue to be staffed, and they will process payments and reports as usual. Customers may use drop-boxes outside of City Hall (check or money order only) and continue to make payments through the mail or electronically through the city’s payments page here. Requests for new service can be made by phone or by email. For new service contact information, please go here.
Seating in room 219 has been reduced to less than half of capacity and rearranged to allow for six feet between attendees. This change was made to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Attendees should sanitize their hands upon entering and leaving City Hall, using sanitizer stations located in the lobby and outside of room 219
