Fayetteville Offers Community Garden Plot Registration on March 5
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.— Garden season is just around the corner and the Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Department has community garden plots available for new gardeners! Registration for gardeners not currently participating in the program takes place on Saturday, March 5 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Fayetteville Senior Activity and Wellness Center (945 S. College Ave.). Plots will be issued on a first-come, first served basis.
The City of Fayetteville’s Community Gardens in the Parks program offers residents an opportunity to rent a garden plot for a nominal fee, providing individuals and families a place to grow fresh produce, learn about gardening, and meet new people in the community.
Garden plots are located at the Walker Park Community Garden by the Fayetteville Senior Activity and Wellness Center, and at Jefferson Community Garden, located at the Fayetteville Adult Education Center on S. College. Plot fees range in price from $20 for a 30 – 50 square foot bed to $40 for a 90 – 100 square foot bed. The garden season lasts from March through February, and fees cover the plot, water and limited seeds and tools.
To find out more about the community gardens or registering for a plot, visit this webpage or contact Kristina Jones at parksvolunteer@fayetteville-ar.gov or 479-444-3467.
