Help a Neighbor Fund Can Serve as a Wonderful Holiday Giving Opportunity
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Fall is here, and the holiday giving season is around the corner! To assist low-income Fayetteville residents in need, the City of Fayetteville, in partnership with the Hark Center for Collaborative Care, created the “Help a Neighbor” fund at this time last year. Donating to the fund is simple and can be accomplished with a mobile phone. Anyone interested in assisting this holiday season can do so by texting “FAY” to 50155 and designating the amount you would like to give. All proceeds will directly assist Fayetteville residents in need.
In the past 6 months, the City of Fayetteville’s Community Resources Division has distributed over $3,000 from the Help a Neighbor Fund to help Fayetteville residents with necessary expenses such as transportation assistance, utilities, rent assistance, food and medical expenses. Assistance of this type allows families to remain in their homes, travel to work, and keep food on their tables during difficult times.
For more information about the Help a Neighbor Fund, please call the Community Resources Division at 479-575-8260, or visit the Community Development section of the City’s website.
