Fayetteville’s Women-Only Duathlon Takes Place June 9
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville’s Parks and Recreation, along with Academy Sports + Outdoors, will host the fourth annual Ladies DU Fayetteville race, a duathlon for women, on Sunday, June 9, 2019. The race is open to women of all ages and is the only duathlon in the state currently dedicated to females.
The duathlon is a 2-mile run / 11-mile bicycle ride / 2-mile run format and will take place at Lake Fayetteville on the paved trails around and near the lake. The race begins at 7 a.m. in Veterans Memorial Park. Fayetteville Parks and Recreation urges trail users to avoid the Lake Fayetteville paved trail from 7 to 9 am on the day of the event. This trail will be used as the bike course portion of the race.
Participants have the option of competing individually or as a two-person relay team in which one woman runs and another woman bikes.
Online registration closes June 7. Fees are $55 for individual entries and $95 for relay entries. The registration fee includes a technical sleeveless top and a finisher medal. Event photo downloads are provided post-event at no cost.
As part of the Fayetteville Race Series, Ladies DU Fayetteville is unique in that it is open to women only. The spirit of the duathlon will be supportive and rewarding. Post-race festivities include massage chairs, raffle prize drawings, and healthy snacks.
The Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Division is excited to host the duathlon with the help of our local and regional sponsors including: Academy Sports + Outdoors, Clif Bar, Einstein Bros Bagels, UAMS Northwest, Bike Arkansas, and Raising Cane’s.
Numerous volunteer opportunities are available and can be viewed on the volunteer registration website, GivePulse. You may also contact Parks and Recreation to volunteer.
