Residents Invited to Participate in Earth Day Trails Cleanup
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville invites the public to participate in a community Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 20. Festivities will begin with a proclamation from Mayor Jordan at 9 a.m. at the Marion Orton Recycling Center (735 W North Street). Coffee and a light breakfast will be provided.
Following the proclamation, volunteers will be sent out to clean litter from different areas of Fayetteville’s trails and streams. Instructions and supplies will be provided including recycling and trash bags, gloves, and litter grabbers. T-shirts and other giveaways will be handed out as volunteers arrive back at Marion Orton after the cleanup. In the spirit of Earth Day, the City encourages participants to walk, bike or carpool to this event which is conveniently located along the Fayetteville trail system. Volunteers are encouraged to wear weather appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes. Water and other supplies will be provided.
