Pickleball Court Lines Added to Walker Park Tennis Courts
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.— Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States and Fayetteville is no exception. In response to the sport’s growing popularity, regulation pickleball court lines have been painted on both tennis courts in Walker Park (10 W. 15 St.), located in the southeast section of the park.
Pickleball is a family-friendly court sport, played with a perforated plastic ball, like a whiffle ball, and wood or composite paddles about twice the size of those used in ping-pong. Easy for beginners to learn while also a competitive game for experienced players, Pickleball has developed a reputation for its friendly and social nature.
The courts at Walker Park are offered in an open play format on the first-come, first-serve basis. Pickleball is also offered indoors at the Yvonne Richardson Community Center (240 E. Rock St.) in southeast Fayetteville from noon to 2 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Wilson Park tennis courts are not marked with Pickleball lines.
