Inclement Weather Schedule for Fayetteville’s Recycling and Trash Collection

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.—The City of Fayetteville’s Recycling and Trash Collection services are running on a delayed basis today, Monday, March 4, due to slick roads caused by the overnight snow event.

All residential and commercial Monday routes are being run today, and Monday collection residents are encouraged to place out their recycling bins and trash carts today.  However, collection started late due to the snow event overnight, and some area roads are still slick, causing issues with heavy trucks getting into tight spaces and traversing hills.  It is possible that some streets will not be able to be collected as usual.

Monday residential recycling routes will be run as soon as road conditions allow for safe collection.  Residential recycling and trash collection crews today will be focusing on the flat areas in the morning and will make determinations of hilly areas as the day progresses.

Recycling trucks are much lighter than the residential and commercial trash trucks, resulting in safety concerns for these vehicles when inclement weather hits the area.  There are two city-operated recycling drop-off facilities for residents to use if they feel it is necessary.

Commercial trash is running and will collect in all areas that are accessible.  Since some of the dumpster locations are on hilly, shaded, and unmanaged parking lots, there are likely to be some collections that will need to be delayed.

Due to operational issues with the landfill, the Transfer Station will be closed to the public today, Monday, March 4.  It is anticipated that the Transfer Station will be reopened to the public on Tuesday, March 5 at 7:00 a.m.

The Recycling and Trash Collection Office, and Marion Orton Recycling Drop Off are open today with normal hours of operation.  Normal hours for the Transfer Station are 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturdays.  Normal hours of operation for the Marion Orton Recycling Drop Off Center are Monday through Saturday from 6:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. with Thursday hours of 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

If you have any questions about your recycling and trash collection services, please contact the Recycling and Trash Collection Division at (479) 575-8398 or view information posted on the City’s website, http://www.fayetteville-ar.gov/, on the City of Fayetteville Government TV Channel, or the City of Fayetteville Facebook page, www.facebook.com/FayettevilleArkansasGovernment/.
