Public Invited to View Overall Design Concepts for Fayetteville’s 71B Corridor Plan

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.—  The City of Fayetteville invites the public to an Open House and presentation of overall design concepts for the City’s 71B Corridor project. The Open House will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, at City Hall Room 111, 113 W. Mountain Street, with a formal presentation by project designers beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The section of state highway 71B that passes through Fayetteville is an important artery for City residents and visitors. The through-traffic of Northwest Arkansas now travels along I-49, which has prompted the City to rethink the future of the 71B corridor with the goal of creating safe travel for all modes of transportation. The redesign of the corridor also offers opportunities to enhance the City’s economic vitality, expand the tax base, increase housing supply and choices, improve transportation options, create a more walkable city, and develop a more attractive community corridor.

Since August, 2018, City staff and project designers have been working with City residents through a series of public input meetings to develop a vision and implementation program for the future of this important community roadway.

The study areas are:

  • NORTH: N. College Avenue from North Street to northern city limits near Lake Fayetteville
  • SOUTH: Archibald Yell Boulevard and S. School Avenue from Rock Street to Cato Springs Road.

Additional information about the 71B Corridor project is available on the City’s website at  www.fayetteville-ar.gov/71B.
