Raising Cane’s Holiday Program to Raise Money for Gulley Park Dog Park

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.— The City of Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Department is collaborating with Raising Cane's  restaurant to raise money for Gulley Park Dog Park. Todd Graves founded the restaurant chain in 1996 and named it for his beloved yellow Labrador, Raising Cane.

As part of the company’s commitment to pet welfare, Raising Cane’s holds its annual Pet Welfare Donation Program during the holidays and invites customers to purchase a collectible stuffed mascot or a limited edition 2019 calendar through Jan. 2, 2019. The net proceeds collected from Raising Cane’s four Northwest Arkansas restaurants will be donated to the development of the new Gulley Park Dog Park.

An update to the Master Plan for Gulley Community Park was completed in September 2018 and includes a proposed off-leash dog park in the northeast area of the park. The City does not currently have the funding budgeted for the dog park but expects to in the next few years. Additional funding sources, such as Raising Cane’s holiday efforts, will help create a better dog park to serve citizens and their best friends.

Work on replacing the original 1992 trails has already started at Gulley Park in addition to building the Niokaska Creek Trail, which will connect to Sweetbriar Park and Mud Creek Trail to the north and the future cycle track along Old Wire Road to the south. Construction of a new splash pad and improvements to the playground will begin in 2019. Information about park renovations and the Gulley Park Master Plan can be found at this webpage.

  • "The Razorback Caniac" 859 E Millsap Rd., Fayetteville
