Keith Macedo is City of Fayetteville’s New Director of Information Technology
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville has chosen Keith Macedo as the City of Fayetteville’s Director of Information Technology. The City’s division of Information Technology supports the City’s technology and Geographic Information System (GIS) operations. As director, Macedo will oversee IT infrastructure needs, ensure technology projects are implemented in accordance with organization wide goals and initiatives, and implement processes and procedures to ensure the effective and economical use of technology resources, while improving staff efficiency and improving services to the citizens of Fayetteville.
Macedo received his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He is also a Certified Government Chief Information Officer through the University of North Carolina. Macedo states, “I’m happy to be back in Fayetteville, to work with an outstanding team at the City, and provide leadership to guide and strengthen the City’s utilization of technology to best meet the needs of staff and improve services.” Macedo has extensive skills and experience in technology, project management, budget management, contract negotiations, contract management and customer service to enhance city services to local residents. Macedo recently was the Director of Internal Services for the City of Keller, Texas; and at the City of Keller, where he worked for over a decade and also served as the Director of Information Services and the Information Services Manager. Prior to his work with the City of Keller, he served as the Assistant Information Services Manager/Operations and the GIS Manager/Operations Specialist for the City of Hurst, Texas. He also spent several years working for both the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and National Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), primarily focusing on GIS and water quality projects within the State of Kansas.
Macedo’s experience and expertise extends outside of his work and into an extensive volunteer spirit, including service on the Board of Directors for the Texas Association of Government Information Technology managers for three years. During his tenure he developed a network of local government user groups throughout Texas to act as peer groups to facilitate information sharing and knowledge transfer between neighboring cities. He has volunteered at his church, and coordinated basketball and soccer leagues, coached multiple youth sports teams, and actively volunteered at local events in his community. Don Marr, the City of Fayetteville’s Chief of Staff stated, “Keith will be a great addition to our team, and we are looking forward to having his expertise working on behalf of our citizens to lead us into the technology future.
