City Seeks Public Comment on Latest Draft of Conceptual Plan for Gulley Park
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.— The City of Fayetteville began seeking public input to update the Gulley Park Master Plan after acquiring 10 acres on the north side of the park in 2014. Parks and Recreation staff presented the latest draft of a conceptual master plan at the July 12 concert of the Gulley Park Summer Concert Series.
The draft plan outlines areas for various concepts such as court sports, a dog park, and activity hub which includes expanded playground area, tree houses, spray pad, and more. The draft also shows a more centralized alignment of the Niokaska Creek Trail through the park to allow Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access to the gazebo while avoiding potential conflicts in the most trafficked part of the trail away from the playground. This new trail construction provides a connection through Gulley Park, from protected bicycle lanes currently under construction on Old Wire Road, to the Razorback Greenway via new connections around Sweetbriar Park and the existing Mud Creek Trail.
The City invites citizens and other interested persons or groups to view and provide comments on the latest draft of the plan, which can be viewed online at www.fayetteville-ar.gov/3070 or the Parks and Recreation Department office (1455 S. Happy Hollow Rd.) Comments can be submitted through the online comment form on the webpage or by email parks@fayetteville-ar.gov, by phone 479-444-3471, or by mail to Parks and Recreation Department (113 W. Mountain St. Fayetteville, AR 72701) . The comment period ends at 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 5.
