Goodyear Blimp to Make Stop at Fayetteville’s Drake Field

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.— Weather permitting, Goodyear’s Wingfoot Two blimp is scheduled to arrive at Fayetteville’s municipal airport, Drake Field, in the early afternoon of Thursday, July 19. The stopover is part of the blimp’s cross-country flight to the 100-plus year-old Wingfoot Lake airship hangar in Suffield, Ohio, where it will undergo routine maintenance. The famous blimp departed from its Carson, Calif. base over a week ago, and has been making overnight stops at various locations along the way.

The blimp will stay an extra day in Fayetteville, to allow the crew some well-deserved time to recharge, and will depart from Drake Field the morning of Saturday, July 21. The blimp’s next stop is St. Louis. To learn more about Goodyear blimps, please visit www.goodyearblimp.com.

Wingfoot Two will be tied down on the eastern side of the airfield. Spectators are welcome to view the blimp from the airport parking lot (4500 S. School Ave). Information about Drake Field can be found here: www.fayetteville-ar.gov/airport
