School Avenue Near Dickson Street Closed This Friday Evening for Artwork Viewing

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — A permit for a temporary road closure has been approved by the City. School Avenue, between W. Dickson and W. Spring Streets, will be closed on Friday, June 15 from 4:30 to 9 p.m. The School Avenue parking lot can be accessed via Shipley Alley. The Spring Street parking deck can be accessed via W. Spring Street.

All are invited to a ribbon cutting event celebrating the completion of Topo Map for School Avenue on Friday, June 15, in the Bradberry Amphitheater and gardens of Walton Arts Center (495 W. Dickson St.) at approximately 6:30 p.m. between Artosphere’s Trail Mix performances.

The road closure allows the public to view Topo Map for School Avenue, a site-specific public artwork created by eco-artist Stacy Levy, and commissioned by the City of Fayetteville and Walton Arts Center with support from the National Endowment for the Arts. The materials of the temporary artwork are thermoplastic topographic markings on asphalt detailing the flow of stormwater. The marking will wear away as vehicles drive over them.
