Women-Only Duathlon Takes Place Sunday at Lake Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Fayetteville’s Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the third annual Ladies DU Fayetteville, a duathlon for women, this Sunday, June 10. The race is open to women of all ages and is designed to create an empowering experience before, during, and after the race. Online registration closes tomorrow, Friday, June 8. Fees are now $55 for individual entries and $95 for relay entries. The registration fee includes a supported course, race timing, downloadable event photos, a cycling jersey, and finisher medals.

The duathlon is a 2-mile run / 11-mile bicycle ride / 2-mile run format and will take place at Lake Fayetteville on the paved trails around and near the lake. Participants have the option of competing individually or as a two-person relay team where one woman runs and another woman rides. Post-race festivities include massage chairs, raffle prize drawings, and healthy snacks. As part of the Fayetteville Race Series, Ladies DU Fayetteville stands out as unique because it’s a supportive and rewarding women-only event.

The Lake Fayetteville paved trail is used for the biking portion of the event. Parks and Recreation staff urge trail users to stay off the section of the trail during the race from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. this Sunday, June 10.

Fayetteville Parks and Recreation thanks the 2018 Ladies DU Fayetteville sponsors: Academy Sports, Adidas Outdoors, Apple Blossom Brewing Company, C.A.M.P (Chiropractic Acupuncture Metabolic Professionals), Clif Bar, Collier Drugs, and Einstein Bros Bagels.

Volunteer opportunities are available and can be viewed on the volunteer registration website, GivePulse or call the Parks and Recreation Department office, 479-443-3471.
