City Asks for Survey Participation in First Phase of Parks Strategic Planning Process
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – City staff is gathering public comments to help shape a new 10-year strategic plan. The “Imagine Tomorrow’s Parks,” planning process, which will last for more than a year, is starting off by gathering public input. Nine of 12 public meetings have been held around the city, and now an online survey is available to gather opinions on current park conditions, resident needs and priorities, and recreation offerings. To better understand the existing conditions, educational materials about the park system are available at www.fayetteville-ar.gov/imagine. The initial data gathered from the meetings and survey will help form possible directions for the park system. This information will be brought back to the public for additional input to help develop a plan for a thriving park system for all ages, abilities, and activities and to help set funding priorities.
Residents may also join Parks and Recreation Department staff at the remaining public input sessions. City staff will be present with park system information and to answer questions before providing your ideas and thoughts on how the park system at large can best serve all members of the community. Information on the specific park location, where the meeting is held, will also be captured. Please join us at any of the public input sessions below:
- Monday, April 30 | 5 to 7 p.m. | Walker Park Baseball Concession
- Thursday, May 3 | 5 to 7 p.m. | Lake Fayetteville Marina
- Saturday, May 5 | 8 a.m. to noon | Fayetteville Square
The strategic planning process will evaluate the existing conditions of the park network in Fayetteville, obtain an understanding of what the residents want in their park system, and will identify how the Park and Recreation Department can move forward to best serve the residents of Fayetteville. This planning process will build on our progress and ensure vibrant parks for future generations.
