[ARCHIVED] May is National Bike Month and There Are Several Events Celebrating Biking

The City of Fayetteville is committed to promoting bicycling for recreation and as a healthy transportation alternative. May is National Bike Month and the City of Fayetteville will be promoting bicycling with a variety of events as part of a Bike Month campaign. The following list of events will be taking place in Bike Month:

April 30th - B-Cycle Bike Share will be holding a bike share demonstration on the University of Arkansas campus on the west side of Old Main from 11am-3pm. Bike share systems allow users to easily access bikes for short trips by checking bikes in and out of automated docking stations. This B-Cycle demonstration will allow people to try out the bikes and docking stations and to learn more about how bike share could work for the University of Arkansas and the City of Fayetteville.

May 2nd - Events in Fayetteville to celebrate the grand opening of the Razorback Regional Greenway will be taking place at or near the train depot on Dickson Street, and include: A Bike Month Proclamation from Mayor Lioneld Jordan 9:30-9:45 am; A free Arkansas Missouri Railroad train ride to the Razorback Regional Greenway Grand Opening event in Springdale will depart Dickson Street at 9:45 am; and free trail-side bike maintenance support will be provided by the Highroller Cyclery at Dickson Street from 9am-1pm.May 2nd - Bike Month Booth will be open at the Fayetteville Farmers’ Market to provide information, safety class sign-up and bike maintenance help to market-goers

May 9th - Bike Month Booth at Farmer’s Market

May 10th - Bike to the Game Event, Razorbacks Baseball Game against Tennessee at 1:05pm fans will meet at train depot on Dickson Street at 12pm to ride the trail to Baum Stadium

May 11-15th - Bike to Work Week

May 15th- National Bike to Work Day

May 16th 23rd and 30th - Bike Month booth at the Fayetteville Farmers’ Market. Bicycle maintenance will be provided by Good Bikes, Lewis & Clark Outfitters, and Phat Tire Bike Shop.
