Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Lake Fayetteville Boardwalk
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville and Mayor Lioneld Jordan invites all to celebrate the completion of the Lake Fayetteville Boardwalk at a ribbon cutting ceremony. The event will take place Thursday, July 6, at 10:30 a.m. to the west of the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks, located at 4703 N. Crossover Road. A map of the location can be found here.
The boardwalk was constructed in an effort to move trail users closer to the lakeshore as a result of the revised Botanical Garden of the Ozarks development boundaries. Because the trail was moved closer to the lakeshore, the Parks and Recreation Department chose to construct an elevated hard surface to keep trail users off periodically wet soil.
The 800-foot-long and 8-foot-wide boardwalk is constructed of treated pine support beams with Eastern Red cedar decking. The boardwalk, which took 62 working days to complete, was constructed by the Parks Department with help from Ozark Off-Road Cyclists to build connector trails.
This project was funded through a $56,000 Recreational Trails Program grant administered by the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, which covered 80 percent of the cost.
