Utility Bill Account Changes

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville recently updated its utility billing software to lay the foundation for improved customer service and efficiency of processing payments related to water, trash, and recycling services.

One change customers will notice is a new sequence number to replace the customer number on their bill. All new utility accounts will be identified with the combination of an account number and a sequence number.

  • Old: Account Number and Customer Number
  • New: Account Number and Sequence Number

This change affects how customers make online payments. From now on, customers will enter the new sequence number to make a payment. For customers who have created accounts on our online utility billing system, we suggest you log in and confirm your new sequence number when you receive your next utility bill. For additional information please contact the City at either 479-521-1258 or Utilitybill@fayetteville-ar.gov .

You can learn how to make online payments at www.fayetteville-ar.gov/payutilitybill .

This upgrade will update the City’s utility billing software, and is the third and final phase of the City’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software implementation, approved by City Council in August of 2015. Phase one was completed in July of 2016, which upgraded the City’s core financial software modules. The second phase, completed in September 2016, upgraded the City’s human resources and payroll software. The new utility billing software will include the ability to view a PDF of your current bill (to be released in July), and real time updates to your utility account. Currently online utility payments are batch processed every 24 hours. More information about the City’s efforts regarding technology upgrades can be found here.
