The City of Fayetteville Urban Forestry Advisory Board (UFAB) is now taking applications for this year’s best examples of sustainable landscapes in Fayetteville. Applications will be accepted from properties located within the Fayetteville city limits, and a winner each from the residential and commercial categories will be recognized. Each winner will be recognized through local press; receive a certificate of award; receive a winner’s medallion for permanent garden display; and receive a landscape recognition sign that may be displayed during the following year at the winning properties.

This 4th annual competition will once again select winners from criteria related to (1) Design and Aesthetics, (2) Preservation of the Natural Environment, (3) Environmental Best Management Practices, and (4) Attraction to Wildlife. A team of judges from the fields of horticulture, landscape architecture, and urban forestry will determine the winners using a rubric of these four categories.

In order to be considered, applicants must:
1. Submit an application in order to enter the competition.
2. Give judges a short tour of their property sometime between May 13 and May 31.
3. Answer questions about landscape management techniques.
4. Allow the UFAB and any interested public to tour their landscape during a short scheduled visit on the afternoon of June 10th, should the applicant be one of the two winning entries.

Once the application is submitted, participants will be contacted to coordinate a time for the judges to visit the property.

Apply now with provided application below or visit http://urbanforestry.fayetteville-ar.gov/339/Urban-Forestry for an on-line application. Completed applications are due by email or mail at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12th.
